Company History

Clear Blue Productions is owned and operated by Brance Gillihan. Brance is an alumni of the Sound Technology and Performing Arts Technology programs at South Plains College in Levelland, Texas. He has engineered, mixed, and edited projects for artists such as Team Flathead, LED39, David Grier, Tim Stafford, Larry Keel, Alan Munde and Joe Carr, Billy Joe Foster and The Special Edition among others. In addition to audio production, Brance has also engineered and edited instructional videos and CD’s that have been released by Mel Bay, Flatpicking Guitar Magazine, AcuTab Publications, and Texas Music and Video.

In the summer of 2000 Brance moved from Nashville, TN to Pulaski, VA to start CBP at the behest of Dan Miller owner of Flatpicking Guitar Magazine. Dan provided a location, a good bit of work, and the inspiration for the formation of the company. The first project ‘Acoustic Guitar Fundamentals’ was taped in January of 2001. The business was offically launched in February 2002 with a weekend of flatpicking workshops organized by Dan Miller and culminating with a saturday night performance by David Grier, Kenny Smith, and Wyatt Rice. The performance was taped live in the studio with an audience comprised of students and fans. ‘Live In Concert’ is availabe on DVD from flatpickingmercantile.com.
