Mass Mailer for Wordpress
Published by Brance on February 14th, 2006

Here is a handy little plugin that I adapted from a Wordpress MU plugin writen by Inviz, and Georges Gabereau. All it does is add a submenu “Mass Mailer” under “Write” in the wordpress admin that allows the admin to send a mass email to all registered users of the blog. I couldn’t find anything simple that did this, so I modified what they had written for wordpressmu.
Here’s a screen shot of the admin.
You can download it here: massmailer.zip

Looks good! I’ll be implimenting it later today… One question, can this plugin send email in html format?

hey Bill,
yes, it will send in html format. I tested it with html markup for some layout and font/color stuff. I also tested it with imbedded images and even flash movies and it worked like a champ.
The only thing I would like to do now is to set it up so it doesn’t try to send all the emails at once. my hosting server only allows me 500 email messages per hour, and with nearly 1000 registered users, I’ve got an issue. so I’d like to set it up to send them at a reduced speed so I don’t hit my max. I’m just not that familiar with how to do that, but I’m working on it. If you have any ideas, please let me know.

Oai,
Yeah, I tested it. Read the comments above. I’ve heard from several people that are using it. I’m using it on more than one site myself. It works fine for everyone that I know who has tried it except you. Now I’ve only tested it with version 2.0 and 2.0.1 I’ve not tested it with the latest release of 2.0.2 that could be the issue? I don’t know. Give me some more details of your install and maybe I can help.

I experienced the same problem as Oai. I’m using version 2.0.1 It’s inserting the plugin code into the Plugin page, so you can actually see the php code and rendered HTML on the Plugin page. I can send a screenshot if you want.

I just upgraded my install to version 2.0.2 and tested the plugin and it’s working fine for me.
Oai was kind enough to send me a screenshot so I have something to work with. I’ll look into it and get back to you.

Just a note to let you know that I’m having the same issue on 2.0.2.
